The lessons for us all:

“To build a beautiful retail proposition that engages and attracts remarkable loyalty and trust, a business must move beyond product and price, no matter how attractive. Beauty and loyalty now come through the incarnation of a mission, of values and qualities that are expressed through product, people, environments and actions.”

In a Victorian townhouse in London Fields, Frieda Gormley and Javvy M Royle first dreamed up home furnishings & furniture brand House of Hackney. Today, the team has grown to a family of artists, designers, producers and collaborators. The brand now sells across the globe, with a showroom in New York and partner retailers worldwide.

Nature has always been at the heart of the brand, inspired by the work of William Morris. This is now totally at the heart of House of Hackney, and embraces a sense of compassion for people and planet as the foundation of everything they do.

House of Hackney also recently appointed ‘Nature’ to their board. A series of independent natural advisers oversee every brand and business opportunity to ensure that ‘nature’ legally has a voice in every decision. From the materials that they use to the people they work with and the way they run their business, this is how they are ensuring a better tomorrow, today.

The brand continues to build its House, moving from a shop on Shoreditch high street to renovate St Michael’s clergy house in nearby Hoxton into an extraordinary showroom for customers, buyers and its international clients creating unique and inspiring designs that will stand the test of time. At St Michael’s they have created a ‘home’ for the brand, fabrics, home furnishings, furniture & upholstery.
